Farm Inputs

Farm input like chemical , fertilizers , improved seeds, tools and implement are not easily available , They are tool expensive for poor farmers to afford. The agriculture sector grew merely 1.3% in the third quarter of 2022. The agriculture sector's stunted growth is due to low productivity, inaccessible or expensive inputs, and increasing post-harvest loss due to poor logistics and insecurity across the country. Prominent among what experts suggest should be done are research and development of improved farm inputs; government and private investment momentum in land preparation technologies and equipment; production and processing technologies; and post-harvest management technologies, all supported with a robust and low.

Inputs for growth include fertilisers, seedlings, and seeds. Inputs for protection include pesticides and other crop protection products. Inputs for mechanisation include tractors, ploughs, planters, harvesters, and other farm equipment. Inputs can be classified as soil-applied, foliar applied or seed-applied. Industrial crop production inputs  covered by  Nigerian government subsidies are seeds ad seedlings, water supply, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.

Natural farming requires cow dung and cow urine (Gomutra) obtained from Indian breed cow only. Desi cow is apparently the purest as far as the microbial content of cow dung, and urine is considered. In natural farming, neither chemical nor organic fertilizers are added to the soil.
